Cookies Policy

WHAT IS A COOKIE?

Cookies (and other similar resources such as local shared objects, flash cookies, web beacons, bugs, etc.) are text files containing small amounts of information that are downloaded to the device used by the user when visiting a website. Their main purpose is, on the one hand, to recognize the user each time you access the website showing it according to the browsing preferences set; and also, where appropriate, analyze user navigation and direct personalized advertising.

GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE USE OF COOKIES EXEMPTED FROM CONSENT

In accordance to the current legislation, any website that uses cookies must provide clear and complete information on the purpose or purposes of cookies, being mandatory to obtain the express consent of users before downloading, except in relation to the so-called “exempt cookies” for which it is NOT necessary to obtain consent (i.e. they are exempt from consent).

Exempt cookies include:

  • Technical or essential cookies: are those that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform or application and the use of the different options or services that exist in it as, for example, control traffic and data communication, identify the session, access parts of restricted access, remember the elements that make up an order, make the buying process of an order, manage payment, control fraud linked to the security of the service, make the application for registration or participation in an event, count visits for the purpose of billing licenses of the software with which the service works (website, platform or application), use security features during navigation, store content for broadcasting videos or sound, enable dynamic content (for example, animation of loading text or image) or share content through social networks in cases where the user has decided to leave the session open.

Also belonging to this category, due to their technical nature, are those cookies that allow the management, in the most effective way possible, of the advertising spaces that, as an additional element of design or “layout” of the service offered to the user, the publisher has included in a web page, application or platform.

  • Exempt personalization cookies: these are those that allow information to be remembered so that the user can access the service by configuring certain features themselves that may differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as, for example, the language, the number of results to display when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which the user accesses the service or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.
  • Exempt analytics or audience measurement cookies: these are cookies used to obtain anonymous traffic and performance statistics that do not require consent if they are used exclusively by the website editor, without any exploitation by a third party and being limited to the following measurements:

– Audience measurement, page by page.

– List of pages from which a link has been followed to request the current page (sometimes called “referrer”), whether internal or external to the site, by page and aggregated on a daily basis.

– Determination of visitors’ device type, browser and screen size, by page and aggregated daily.

– Page load time statistics, per page and aggregated hourly.

– Statistics on time spent per page, bounce rate, scroll depth, per page and aggregated daily.

– Statistics on user actions (clicks, selections), per page and aggregated daily.

– Statistics on the geographic area of origin of the requests, per page and aggregated daily.

These types of cookies will only be active for a maximum of thirteen months and the information obtained will not be retained beyond twenty-four months.

COOKIES NON-EXEMPT FROM CONSENT

Cookies can be classified according to various criteria. From a legal standpoint, as explained in the previous section, there are exempt and non-exempt cookies. Other classification criteria consider the type of cookie management (first-party or third-party), activation time (session cookies and persistent cookies), or type of purpose.

The classification of non-exempt cookies according to their purpose is especially relevant. From this perspective, non-exempt cookies can be:

  • Non-exempt personalization cookies: These allow the user to access the service with some general characteristics that are not chosen by the user but are automatically applied by the website, for example, based on the region from which access to navigation is detected.
  • Non-exempt analytical or audience measurement cookies: These do not meet the requirements mentioned in the previous section to be considered exempt audience measurement cookies, either because they allow for different measurements not included in the indicated list, because they involve information exchange with third parties, or because they are not anonymous.
  • Behavioral advertising cookies: These are aimed at achieving the most efficient management possible of the advertising spaces that, if applicable, the publisher has included in a website, application, or platform from which the requested service is provided. These cookies store information on user behavior obtained through the continued observation of their browsing habits, allowing the development of a specific profile to display advertising based on it (personalized advertising).
  • Plugin cookies: Cookies used by external content provider plugins are necessary for the user to access previously requested content or services, such as viewing videos hosted on YouTube, geographical locations on Google Maps, connecting to social networks, etc. These cookies are governed by the respective cookie policies of the external providers.

By clicking on social network plugins included on a website, your browser will connect to the corresponding social network server, so the social network provider will know from which website the user came when accessing the social network site. If you want to prevent this link from being generated, you should log out of the social network website before visiting any website.
